New Tennis Court 8 Update
Following my last update at the beginning of September regarding construction of the new court, we have been working to discharge the main condition of planning permission, to agree an acceptable method of draining the court of surplus water if required.
After our initial application to remove the condition was refused, Bromley Council said that they wanted further tests carried out before granting full permission to proceed. Extensive tests were carried out showing that the land did not drain well, so we appointed a
specialist in this field to interpret the data and recommend a solution.
With the assistance of Club member and architect Mark Barnard, we have created a revised plan, and have been liaising with the planning officers at the Council to try to ensure the plan is acceptable.
This has now been submitted and we are awaiting formal approval by the Council. Meanwhile, we still have a provisional slot with Trevor May Contractors Ltd, who we have used for laying the other courts, for work to commence in November.

American Mixed Doubles Tournament – Friday 9 October 2026
There are still places to enter the next tournament, so please put your entry in to ensure a successful evening. Starting at 7.00pm, you will play a game of mixed doubles for 15 minutes before everything changes – the court you play on, the opposing team, and even your doubles partner! All playing categories are welcome to take part. Bar will be open for refreshments afterwards. The entry fee is £8.00 per player.

David Bent-Hazelwood
A big thank you from Club member David for various donations, in memory of his wife, when he did a 50km ultramarathon. He finished (though slower than hoped because of cramp) and the total raised for a local youth mental health charity is now over £3,200.

Club Manager Hours
I’ll be available at the Club this coming week as follows: Saturday from 0900-1630, Sunday 0900-1500, Monday 1030-2100, and Friday 1030-2100. During these times you can obtain drinks & snacks from the bar, as well as balls & accessories, and hire the tennis ball machine.
Remember that the clubhouse bar is open Monday to Wednesday from 7.00-10.00pm, Thursday 6.00-10.00pm, and Friday 6.00-9.30pm.
