Lockdown update and return to play
Following the Government statement yesterday regarding the return to a tier system after the current lockdown ends, it does appear to be good news for the Club.
Certainly, outdoor tennis in some form looks to be allowed in all tiers, and indoor activities may be permissible in some tiers too. Therefore, tennis court booking is now available from the 3 December onwards, although please bear in mind that this may be restricted to singles play only.
We will have to wait until the end of the week for full details and updated guidance from governing bodies, and to find out what tier our area is in, so I’ll update everyone again next Monday.
You can read the latest advice and news from the LTA here and England Squash here.

AGM Reminder – Tuesday 15 December 2020
Please remember that you can cast your proxy vote for the AGM using the online form here. It is important that all members are engaged in developments at the Club, and you can find all relevant documents in the Members area of the website.
In particular, Special Resolution A has significant implications for the future of the Club, which recommends replacing the croquet lawn with an additional tennis court to support the growth of the Club, help to build a new clubhouse and retain the Squash & Racketball section.

A poetic response…
Finally, a reply from Vikki Courtney to Simon’s very moving and profound take on the difficulties experienced by all, including ageing spirits in the bar, from a couple of weeks ago…

Do not despair, for I’m a fan
Of peachy drinks, so I’ve a plan
This eau de vie, pls send to me
It matters not it’s half empty
It saw me through my misspent youth
Along with vodka and vermouth
So it will serve me well I’m sure
Through November – the month of bore
The Babycham? Well that can stay
Never in fashion in ‘my day’
