Covid Update – National Lockdown

Following the Government statement at the weekend announcing a 4 week national lockdown, we have been awaiting full clarification on how this will impact the Club.

The various sports governing bodies have been lobbying to consider Covid safe sport as essential for both physical and mental well being.

Unfortunately, it is now clear that there will be no sports exemption from the lockdown. Therefore, from 10.30pm on Wednesday 4 November all Club facilities will be closed until Wednesday 2nd December.

All coaching activities will also stop during this period, and you will receive a separate communication regarding any sessions you have booked.

During lockdown we will take the opportunity to complete various projects, such as the conversion of floodlighting on Courts 3 & 4 to LED, and releveling the artificial clay, so that there is minimal disruption when we can return to play.

At present, the guidance indicates that we will return to the current tiered system from 2 December onwards. So, it is critical that we all follow the rules during the next four weeks so that we can come out of lockdown in a good position for Club activities to be fully reinstated.

We will keep you informed throughout by newsletter as usual, as well as through our social media platforms. Also, keep an eye on the website for additional information.

Because of the exceptional circumstances around Squash and Racketball this year, each member will receive a separate email over the coming days regarding membership fees, etc.

Sadly, senior tennis coach Toussaint Samuel will be leaving us during closure. Although it is good news for him as he will be taking up a Head Coach role at Catford Wanderers. Tous has been with us for five years and we wish him every success in the future.

Many thanks for your continued support – keep safe and well, and see you soon!
